What inspired you to join SMPS, and how long have you been a member?
I have been a member for 18 years. When I first started in the industry, I was encouraged to become a member and get involved. I’ve learned so much and met some many life long friends.
What led you to the AEC industry?
Like many, it landed in my lap. My husband worked for a construction company who happened to be looking for a marketer. I applied and was offered the position.
What valuable information have you gained from participating in SMPS?
Education, Friendships, and Connections. When new to the industry, this was where I absorbed all the information I could consume. Through my involvement at the local, regional, and national levels, I have made life long friends who I can connect with all over the country. It’s really a network of marketers and business developers working to elevate marketing in the AEC industry.
What is the best piece of advice you have received?
No is a complete sentence. I enjoy helping out, volunteering, and helping my clients. At some point, for my own sake, I have learned to say No. It’s not easy but it’s something I’m working on.
What is your favorite pastime?
I enjoy hiking, golfing, and drinking red wine.

How to Win Friends and Influence People… An oldie but a goodie!
