Marlee Lett, Marketing Coordinator

What is you current role?
Marketing Coordinator for the Northwest Arkansas team at Baldwin & Shell Construction.
What inspired you to join SMPS, and how long have you been a member?
My dad, Gabe Lett, is heavily involved and always talks about how awesome it is, so I joined my first week of employment. I’ve been a member for a little over a year.
What led you to the AEC industry?
I got a degree in psychology thinking I would continue going to school to become a counselor. However, I was really over school when I graduated. I decided to just apply for a bunch of jobs that sounded interesting to see what was out there. I knew my dad was in marketing for the AEC industry, and his job always sounded cool to me. He sent me the LinkedIn post that said Baldwin & Shell was hiring a Marketing Coordinator for their Northwest Arkansas Team. I had always wanted to eventually live in Arkansas because it’s such a beautiful state. I decided to apply and got the job! Of course, my expert dad’s recommendation had nothing to do with it. Actually, I am sure it had a lot to do with it because my company basically got a 2 for 1 by hiring me. I call my dad for ideas and help all the time!
What valuable information have you gained from participating in SMPS?
So far, all of the learning resources available through membership have been the most valuable. Being as green as they come to the industry and marketing in general, it has taught me a lot in a little amount of time. I have been able to use what I have learned through SMPS and make meaningful changes to our proposal and interview process.
What is your favorite pastime?
I absolutely love playing games with my family – card games, board games, sports, yard games.

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom
