What inspired you to join SMPS, and how long have you been a member?
I joined SMPS to connect with other marketing professionals in the AEC industry and to continue growing in my career. I’ve been a member for over 2 years!
How did you find your way into the AEC industry, and what keeps you excited about it?
Like many, I didn’t plan to land in the AEC industry, but I’m so glad I did. Right after college, I stepped into a marketing role at an engineering firm and quickly realized how much I loved the blend of creativity, strategy, and purpose. Every project is different, which means I’m constantly learning, whether it’s about infrastructure, innovation, or the people behind the work. The variety keeps me on my toes, and the impact our industry has on communities keeps me inspired.
What valuable information have you gained from participating in SMPS?
SMPS has been an incredible resource for both professional development and connection. I’ve gained access to training and insights that directly support my day-to-day work in marketing, from proposal strategy to industry trends. But just as valuable are the relationships I’ve built. I recently stepped into the role of President-Elect and have met so many incredible people.
Is there any advice you would like to share with our members?
“Keep asking questions.”
In the AEC industry, there’s always more to learn. Whether you're new or experienced, asking questions helps you grow and contribute with more impact.
What's something surprising or fun about you that most people in the industry might not know?
I’ve lived/worked in both Springfield, IL and Springfield, MO.
You're making a playlist for your workday, what would the title be?
“Strategy and Strong Coffee.”
What is something that recently made you smile?
A sweet note from a fellow mom telling me how kind and thoughtful my daughter was to another child. It was one of those proud parent moments that just fills your heart.
