What is your current role/job description?
Marketing Manager at Baldwin & Shell Construction Company – I am over corporate marketing initiatives as well as pursuit and proposal management for our Industrial Services, Construction Services, Central Arkansas, and Northeast Arkansas/Memphis teams.
What inspired you to join SMPS, and how long have you been a member?
When I first entered the AEC industry, I was inspired by my marketing colleagues who were actively involved in our local SMPS chapter. Their passion for the organization and the professional growth they experienced caught my attention. After attending a few SMPS events and webinars with them, I was impressed by the vibrant community and the wealth of knowledge shared. Encouraged by these experiences, I joined SMPS 2.5 years ago. Since then, the networking opportunities and industry insights have been invaluable, greatly enhancing my career in AEC marketing.
What led you to the AEC industry and what do like about it?
I ventured into the AEC industry by applying for a marketing role at an MEP engineering firm, despite having no prior experience in this field. I was thrilled to get the job, and I quickly fell in love with the fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
What excites me most about the AEC industry is seeing projects come to life and knowing they shape our communities. The dynamic nature of the work and the opportunity to blend my marketing skills with engineering and construction keep me engaged and passionate.
My journey has been immensely enriched by the amazing coworkers and mentors I've met along the way. They've become lifelong friends and have been instrumental in teaching me everything I know about AEC marketing. Their support and guidance have been invaluable, making this industry not just a career, but a true passion for me.
What valuable information have you gained from participating in SMPS?
Participating in SMPS has been invaluable for my career in AEC marketing. Through SMPS, I've built long-lasting friendships and found incredible mentors who have guided me along the way. The wealth of resources available, including webinars, events, and training sessions, has significantly elevated my skills and knowledge. These opportunities have not only helped me excel in my role but also provided a solid foundation for continuous professional growth. SMPS truly offers a supportive community and the best resources to stay at the forefront of the AEC industry.
